Tech

This week at technology I stated making a Christmas tree out of sheet metal. I cut some metal and bent it so it stood up strait and then pot riveted it to a piece of sheet metal.  I then cut more metal and then drilled them all and pot riveted to that. As they go up the metal sheets get shorter and shorter so it looks like a Christmas tree.

Film Festival

Yesterday we went to the Toki Ponamu film festival. Here is what I though of this.

There was a range of movie styles
There were some great movies and some not so great.
Some people used the green screen.
They should have used a tripod to hold the camera still.
Some people used slow mo really well and made their movies look really well.
There was a range of modern movie making skills
New skills were being used but a long way to go

Book Review

Name of the book: Courageous
Image result for courageous a novel of dunkirkName of Author: Yona Zeldis McDonough.
Where was this book set: The south coast of England, the English channel and Dunkirk.
Main characters: George, Sally, Mum and Dad

What was the book about: This book was about a young boy in the second world war wanting to cross the English channel to help rescue the WW2 soldiers who had been pushed to the ocean by the German soldiers, the people from the south England village used all the little boats to take the soldiers to the bigger boats to get them out of Dunkirk. The German soldiers started bombing the men waiting for boats, some of the men died. I think that you should read the book to see if the rest of the men survive.

Cellphones

This week we have been working on a piece of writing. The topic was should kids be aloud cellphones. What do you think? Here is my writing.

I don’t think kids should be allowed a phone until a certain age, I think that age should be 13. The reason I think this is because kids don’t realise that when they send something or post something on social media it's there forever and they can’t take it down, can be a distraction and online safety.

Do children realise their information could be kept forever online!!!! If you send something or post something on Facebook or other social media you can’t take it down. Kids playing on phones causes people being lazy and unfit and will keep them inside. I think that a Chromebook at school is enough and they don’t need another device. If they do have a device I think that they should not have social media like Instagram and Snap chat until they are at least 13. When kids do have a device I think they should not be aloud on the until after about five o’clock or five thirty because that means they still go outside and enjoy themselves when there not on there phone.

Would you like your kids having social media and talking to random people without you knowing? Children under the age of thirteen don’t usually realise what harm social media can do that is why there is an age restriction, like Facebook, Instagram and snap chat are all thirteen plus.

That is why I think that kids under the age of thirteen should not be aloud a cellphone, would you like your child having a phone with social media were the could be talking to anyone? Would like like lazy unfit children that just sit inside all day or would you like fit fun children that play outside? I think I know what I would want.

Millions

Chapter 1/2

Main Characters: Dad, Anthony, Damian, Barry (Freckle Neck), Mr Quin, Mum?

Setting: I think this book it set in England because when they were talking about money and the said pounds. The school Damian and Anthony go to is called Great Ditton Primary.

Plot: Damian and Anthony are going to Great Ditton Primary where they aim for excellence, and Damian is trying to be like Saint Roch and not talk for ages. He likes talking about Saints.
